Default $700 for 30K?

just took in my cruiser for the recall work, thought i might as well take care of the 30 K service and some warranty work while it was in. was given an estimate of $700.00 for the 30K service. while the amount of work is extensive (all fluids changed, tires rotated, etc.), that seems to be a lot for required service? anyone else paying that much or am i getting, well you know!?![:I]

By "all fluids" - you mean engine & tranny, right? Not cooling system or brake fluid, right? Are they replacing anything beside fluid? Timing belt?
Sounds VERY high. Engine oil change is cheap, auto trans flush is $200 tops. What else are you getting?[:I]

Just had my PT in today for 30K service and it was only $68.00 you must have had other stuff that needed repair, which would explain the $700.00

30k....
Oil Change
Rotate
Trans Service
Coolant Flush
Tune-Up (intake removal necessary for an extra 1 hour plus manifold gasket)
Brake Inspection
Lubricate Door Hinges
Air Filter Inspection (change as needed)
PCV
Load Test Battery
Inspect all belts, lights, hoses, tires, check all other fluid levels

$350.00 plus applicable tax

At 30 K he may have also done a front caliper service and rear clean and adjust, or rear caliper service if never done, and/or balance alignment. But even then...rip off for 700

thanks for the info! the estimate was for tht 30K service only! it includes all the things bigtommy 83 listed. all fluids (including transmission), all inspections, and i'm sure a bunch of add ons i don't really need. called other dealers here in the san diego area and got about the same price. say it is a very intensive service but that except for oil changes, there will not be anymore until 60K?! hope they are right.
beelsamin...no way they would do all this work for 68 bucks, sure you got it all done or is it really cheaper up there? local station did my wife's neon for 200, and didn't change anything except the oil, now that was a rip off. had to spend 300 at another shop to get the trans and radiator flushed!

You can do the plugs yourself and get the Cahmpion platinums and better wires (Crane or Magnecore).
Okay, radiator flush can't hurt, but still way too much.
I'd say get prices off local mechanics for tranny & radiator - just be certain they use the right stuff (ex, ATF+4 or ATF+5 for the auto fluid).

These different car dealers must have something going together....just took the wife's KIA SUV in for the free oil change at 30,000K. They quoted the exact same service as listed be BigTommy for the same amount.

Yes my 30 K service was $68.00.It is the service as listed in my service folder, can't recall what they did but they did perform the 30 K service..all of you should have that service folder that came with your warranties and manual..I do know that it is schedule B 30K service and also it did not list all the stuff he had done on his PT.
When I get out in the morning I'll get it out of my car and post what is listed for the 30 K service.

Is that a discounted cost for you since you work for DC?
