PCM Flash. Lets see if I can remember....only the early model PTs needed to have the "flash". There was a way to tell if you needed it. Something to do with the Cruise Control...If your driving with the cruise ON, and you can push down on the stauk that controls the cruise and it will drop your cruising speed down by about 1 mph, then you don't need to have it flashed. If nothing happens with the speed, you have the early model PCM. I think that's the way to tell...anyone out there confirm that?

I would assume that dealerships do PCM flash updates, not necessarily for the gas milage though. I guess you can request to have the most updated PCM flash (or at least ask, but than again they may be clueless).

My pt has been slowly getting worse gas mileage. It was at 21 when I first got the intake. Then moved to 20, then 19 when I changed my plugs and wires. Now it jumps between 19 and 20 off and on, and depending on how hard I acclerate. Last time I check it, it was at 15, thats after I used a bottle of high grade fuel injector cleaner. The Pt runs better and smoother then ealier but I have recorded that one bad MPG rating so far. Its into its second week without and I will see what I get this time around.

N/A with intake, custom stock box, double plat plugs & 8.5mm wires and some what spirited driver, 27000 miles.

Synthetic is supposed to be slipperier (is that a word?) than conventional oil and therefore produce less friction...less friction = less the engine has to work = better gas milage.

Poor plan, IMHO. 1) If you're gonna use synthetic oil to get better mileage, I think it's poor economics, because the mileage difference won't pay for the higher oil cost.
2) Syntheic is better oil, which is why I use it, but while it may be true that it doesn't "break down" in 25,000 miles, it will pick up acids & such from combustion that a filter won't remove. I change mine at 5,000 miles.
A big factor in mileage is tires - keep them inflated - try this - find a downslope and at the top, note your speed and take your foot off the gas, and note your speed at the bottom. Do it again with your tires 10 PSI low, and you can feel the difference. Also, low profile tires don't help mileage. I saw a Toyota compact, looked like it was riding on 4 temp spare tires!

I've been getting around 17.5 on the '04 Turbo and I get into it a lot. The sticker had a highway mileage of 19 so with the mods making an improvement to that and my heavy right foot taking some away I think I'm getting what I paid for. [8D]
With people stealing flu shot syrum from a childrens clinic and selling it for $100 per shot I think there could be some SOB's out there that would not think twice about stealing your gasoline! Here the GT fuel is $2,50 to $2.75 per US gal. When you look closely at some of the people out there in the next lane and ask "whold he/she steal gas"? Makes you want to buy a lockable doesn't it? I bought a lockable gas cap a few months ago for that purpose. I wouldn't know how desperate some people are. Some people are willing to do drive-offs, it's easier to steal gas from other people's cars.
