Default Windshield Glass

Anybody have this problem? The windshield glass on my PT is very prone to chip or pit. After 25,000 miles, I've got 2 chips from stones, a scratch from a carwash attendant with a hand held towel and a few thousand various size pits in the glsss (about 50 per square in.) Some are visable from 2 feet or more away. The many smaller ones are visable when the light is at an angle. This is most visable at sunrise and sunset when driving toward the sun. The entire windshield is a lightshow of tiny rainbow refractions (and glare). I can see normally to drive but it's like having a dirty windshield. I've owned many other cars and never had this happen before

I have the same thing....thousands of tiny nicks all over the windshield. I have 62K on mine and a lot of it is highway driving. I think the shape of the Pt makes it very prone to road debris both on the front of the car and the windshield.

You're not alone. Mine has acne, too. Highway driving does it - I don't find the PT worse than other cars.

I do find the PT prone to more chips. I'll need to install my 3rd windshield after winter and only 16,000 miles. The only other car I ever owned that seemed to suffer the same fate was the mid-eighties Subarus.
I'm guessing it has to do with process or windshield angle as my current windshield is an aftermarket windshield but appears to be chipping at the same rate as the factory windshield.

Yep, I saw a TV commercial where this guy sees what looks like an asteroid falling from the sky and hitting his windshield, only to realize it's just a stone.

That's exactly what I saw too, so had to get a chip repair gluejob.
