Default What is the condition of your breather filter?

For those who installed a breather filter, which connects to the hose that normally connects to the airbox, does the breather filter get gunked up with oil? I know in the original setup with the stock airbox, there is some oil on the bottom due to some blow back, which is normal. I am considering of installing a breather filter on mine, but I was wondering if it gets gunked up with oil once in awhile that I have to replace it or clean it out? If it does get gunked up, how often do you have to clean/replace it?

It will get a bit gunked up, and mine is showing signs of that but I haven't cleaned it yet. I'll probably handle it the same way I'd handle a K&N filter - clean it, let it dry, and give it a little spray with the filter oil.

By the way, from your other post your $20 catch can install looks great!

mine is the exposed element type just like the k+N cone filter i have.
It is still only a month old and looks to be clean not dripping any oil. I have a problem with oil in the PCV line so thats where my catch can is. I am going to install a new PCV at the next oil change to see if it makes a difference but couldnt find one at the parts store so ill get it from my dealer.

Does anyone know the part number of the molded tube that connects the engine to the breather filter? Mine is dry rotted and cracked and every place I go they look at me funny and try to sell me fuel line hose and say it will suffice. Problem is, each end is a different diameter and I cant bend the fuel line hose and make it fit without kinking it.

HELP!!!
