Hi, I am new to the forum and have searched through but unable to find what I am looking for. I purchased a 2003 PT Limited Edition and I usually find a large puddle under it after driving. It does not have to be a long trip (20 minutes of city driving) and it starts right away. I took it back to the dealership and they said they cannot find anything wrong. Do any of you have the same thing happening. It leak seems to be coming from the passengers side of the vehicle. Second question, what kind of gas mileage can I expect? It stats say about 25mpg in the city but I am way below that. What are you guys getting?

Welcome to the forum.
The puddle is normal and is condensation from the condenser of the air-conditioning. You don't need to run the air-conditioner for the puddle, having the control switch pointing towards the front window for defrosting or clearing the window will also run the condenser. City driving with the PT will bring your mileage way down..hate to say it, but expect somewhere in the high teens. |

Dayping welcome to this forum.
We have a 03 limited and in town we get about 17 and on the highway about 27.

Not being a jerk, but the condensation is from the evaporator inside the vehicle's heater/air box. Not the condenser. Also, I get 23 city, 31 freeway. Again, not trying to be a jerk.

Your not being a jerk at all Tommy. I knew it was condensation, just quoted the wrong part...thanks for correcting me. Your 23 city is above average from what I've been reading on all the forums. |

Thanks for all the great responses. I did not expect them so quickly. It is surprising that a small engine would get such poor gas mileage, that is tha same that I am getting with my BMW 325I. I thought moving to a smaller engine I would get some sort of gas benifit but I guess I was wrong. At least I have more room in the Cruiser.
Again thanks for all the help. Dayping |

It is a 5 speed car. Umm, AGP 15lb wastegate, boost controller set at 12psi, Airforce one intake, AMX pipe, srt-4 exhaust with no resonators, and a Mopar BOV and a functional hood scoop. I usually shift around 2 grand in every gear, unless I already hit the speed limit at 3rd, then I go to 5th after 3rd. I keep rpm's low, but not too low that the car struggles and tries to dump more gas to keep 'er going. I never ever went over 2500 rpm's during break in (500 miles) and I have used Mobil 1 since then. And premium fuel (which is only recommended). Citgo if that makes a difference to any of you. Don't get me wrong, I am not a prudish driver with a car like mine, especially if say, and srt-4 or civic or 1.8t golfs are my favorite, pull up next to me. I just like to save a little gas money especially when it is 2.35 around here.

Welcome, Dayping.
You've gotten the answer on your puddle - if it's clear, it's condensation. The reason the PT gets poor mileage is largely due to its weight - it's porky. I can tell you that as miles rollup, mileage will improve. Biggest single thing (other than not burying gas pedal) for mileage is to keep tires pumped up - I go about 37-38 PSI on mine, and get just over 25 overall - I'm at close to 80,000 miles.
