Have you tried asking the dealer if they can install it for a price.

I would imagine, the wiring already exist.

I wish I could give you mine. I never use it and the !@#$ stalk always hits my knee. One day I will remove it...

Sorry man, it's not that easy. If, and I mean if, the wiring IS there for the cruise control, you'll have to remove the airbag to add the cruise control stalk. But the biggest problem is the PCM. The cruise control is controlled by the PCM, and it would have to be reprogrammed for the new system. Definately not a do it yourself project, and the dealer will charge you close to 1k for it. Sorry to break your bubble. I inquired about it when I had my 2001 touring edition with no cruise control.

Can't help you with the Cruise Control...
but I had Power Locks with Keyless entry put on mine by a
service shop. It was only $400 and super easy, had it
back the next day. Saved me upgrading $2Gs to the touring model
to get them!!

I installed a factory cruise control system in my base 2003 Pt Cruiser and it was a snap. The airbag is not hard to remove at all, a couple screws and two clips give you full access to it. My PT was already Pre-wired for Cruise Control and so I purchased a factory kit off of EBAY for $180 and had it in and working in 4 hours. The PCM didn't need to be touched at all!!! I would rate this as a definite do it yourself project. Total cost for adding factory cruise control $180.

I don't know about the difficulty but I do know Chrysler does make DIY kit and here is the cheapest I have found it at a regular dealer Cruise Control

You can get the part number and order it from chryslerpartsdirect.com for about $175 plus shipping also. They also have the driving light kits too!
