Default Remote start

Has anyone purchased a remote start kit from Sam's Club and had it installed? Was it hard to do or did it cost much?

If you have the transponder key SOME remote starter systems won't work or need special wiring so be sure it will work with the transponder key.

Mopar offers a remote start for the Chrysler vehicles. May be a lot easier than a Sam's Club. It should be mostly all plug and play. And it has a better warranty than one of those.

i would never put one of those on my car. ive seen a few cars that have caught fire because of a malfunction with the auto start. one just plain shorted out and overheated the wires melting an entire harness together, another kept restarting the whole day at the beach parking lot and finally self ignited. just yesterday at work the car next to me started up out of nowhere, it had auto off so it shut off in about 10 minutes. I am not a fan of messing with the wiring because it always seems to cause problems down the line.

I currently have a remote start (Viper 791) on my PT and a Clifford system on my '93 4Runner. I never had any problems with either, although the Viper is a newer system. The higher end systems have built in safety for such events. But I'm surprised the person who had his remote start cause a fire due to the starter trying to start the car the whole day. I can see stupidity and faulty equipment are the blame. I use my remote start when I know I will be entering my vehicle within 5-10 minutes on a cold day. On hot summer, I would barely even run the remote start, if I did, it would be only as I approached the vehicle. The person who wanted to remote start his vehicle while being at the beach for the whole day was kind of stupid, sorry to say. If he wanted to step inside a cool vehicle, there's an easier way by leaving the windows open a crack, having tinted windows and a windshield cover, which is what I do on extreme hot days.
