Default Door Problem

Hello all. This could be either a potentially stupid question, or a larger problem. I usually can get out of my PT and give the door a hard push and it will slam shut. Well the past couple of days, I do it and I look back and it isnt shut. You can tell by the hollow "Thump" it makes. I look and it hasn't "clicked" into the lock position....Is this just a greasing problem? It always shuts when I actually hold the handle and shut it all the way without using inertia to shut it LOL. Or is it something worse? HELP

there is a part called the body exhauster. it releives pressure inside the cabin when that last door is closed. Yours may be blocked in some way. Try rolling the window down a touch and closing the door normally. if it closes all the way then look into the exhauster. I think it is in the back near the wheel well but not totally sure.

do the other doors close ok?
if so, then a small amount of white lithium grease at the locking mechanism should do the trick.

Do you mean the vent in the back door fender well? I am so lost. I am actually going to go outside and try that right now. Yeah, all the other doors shut just perfectly...

Ok I am such a fruit. I went to the car, and I opened and closed the door many times. It went shut without a hitch. But I have noticed that it does that only when I immediately park the car and then do it. It could just be pressure from the car! WEIRD

It could be that your door is out of alignment or the latch needs adjusting too.

My thoughts, too - have had that on other cars.

I have an equally strange problem with one of my doors. My rear passenger side door lock sticks sometimes and I am unable to open it from the outside. I have to actually climb in thru the other door and hold the lock up and open it at the same time. It's a real pain, you never know when it's going to happen and my daughter's carseat is on that side of the car so trying to climb over that heap can get frustrating.

You have central locking? Can you reach in from front door, hold button up & open from outside?
I'm thinking might be lock solenoid.

No, my husband (who has much longer arms than my 5'2" allows) has tried that to no avail. I haven't brought the car anywhere to be looked at, it happens so infrequently, and sometimes it actually corrects itself if you leave it alone. The first time it happened I called my husband freaking out, when he got home he came in thinking I was crazy, the door had opened just fine for him.
It's kind of funny, I manage a limo company and the same problem has now started with one of my lincolns.

Does push button on outside not go in, or goes in but doesn't open door? Maybe when you fix the Lincoln,.....
Gotta either be lock solenoid, or linkage - either would mean taking door panel off from inside.
Soemething that can't hurt - shoot silicone spray into lock at back of door.
