Default Had tape marks on bumpers fixed

I just picked up my 03 cruiser. I originally had taken the car in around August. They ordered front and rear bumpers had them painted and were ready to install. Service writer saw front bumper was scratched and sent it back. 2 months went by and I called to ask what the problem was on the new bumper. The manager said that Chrysler came out with a TSB on the bumpers. That meant the plan had changed, I said I didn't care just wanted the tape marks removed. He said no problem. Took car in on Monday, appointment was Tuesday, but wanted them to have car and lock inside yard. I was called 12 noon Thursday and picked up car. The fix was done as per the TSB. Just telling everyone my dealer has taken care of me on this, with no questions asked . They appologized for the delay but said they were waiting to staighten out what they had started to do and what they were supposed to do now. I'm really satisfied .

The rear was replaced and painted. The front was prepped and scrubbed and cleaned. Then coated with prep masked then srayed with adhesion promoter. Then painted the original grey color. You can look this up at PTDIY under TSB/Recall header.

Gonzo,

Could you please post the details of that TSB please? Would it apply to a 2001 Ltd that is no longer under manufacturer's warranty?

Chrysler will repaint all of the bumpers that have the tape marks, have had my 2002's painted twice under warranty. Just tell your service manager that you have "Tape Marks", they'll check and set you up to be repainted.

Hooligan,

When you say painted, do you mean the original gray color? Is it an option to have the bumpers painted the color of the vehicle itself like all of the latest models?

comPuTer, they will paint it the original color under warranty. I would assume that IF you were to pay extra they would paint it any color you wish[:I]. Good Luck!!!

I would still like clarification if Gonzo (or anyone else) knows if this TSB will apply if the warranty has lapsed? I have a 2001 Ltd. I've kept my bumpers nice by coating them graciously with either ArmorAll or SonOfAGun each wash. Lately, however, I noticed that my rear bumpers are just starting to show those dreaded tape marks.

Since this is a problem that Chrysler tried hard to avoid (the first couple of years) but has finally owned up to, is there any precedent for getting something done about it after the warranty has expired?
