Still haven't received the one on the wifes Cruiser.Checked
the line everytime I change the oil.Seems like something would have to hit it ,it's held away by two brackets.
I also checked mine today while changing the oil and found one of
the bracket bolts loose. And this was after the recall had already
been done.[:I]
Now doesn't that make you warm and safe all over!![:0]

Wow, Gammer, that was a mean fire, good thing you had just stoped. I bet it spread fast. Did you get compensated by DC or did your own insurance deal with it? Hope it workded of ok for you.

Yup, it spread real fast. From the time my steering locked up to the time I opened the hood, it was already spreading. And to answer your question on DC; nope they screwed me. They sent an independant investigator to take pics, and he agreed it was their fault. After that DC acted like it was nothing (or rather that I was nothing), and told me to take the money from allstate and that they would compensate allstate for it. Messed up thing is, I was on the highway about 3 minutes before. Imagine if the power steering went up in flames while I was on the highway? Only brought another PT because I love the first one so much. But between them screwing me on my last one, and the fiasco with teasing us with stage 2, and now they say it's not coming out, I'm never getting another DC again.

Wow. those pics just scared the hell out of me. My friend's mother just got her PT about a month and a half ago and said to me the other day. "I got the letter but I'm just too lazy to take it in." I think I will send her the link to your site Sugamer and let her see what could happen if she doesn't heed the warning!!

PS. I love your PT. Makes me wanna go trade mine in!

Thanks Jmack! I'm glad you like "Junior". Sorry the pictures are dark; you can't really see the chrome grill. Yes please sent her the link, so she can see what can happen. Really scary part was I was parking it when the fire started. I was in the car! Plus, I had just got off the highway a few minutes before! Also, I got burned by the battery acid that jumped up. That resulted in me getting cellulitus, and my arm blow up like a ballon. The doctor said if I would have waited another day to goto the hospital, they would have had to leave me in the hospital a week or two with a super strong antibiotic IV drip. I will get down on my knees and beg everyone who has a PT as part of the recall to get it done! I don't want to see anymore burn like mine did. My cousin's co-worker's PT burned like mine did a week and a half after mine did! So please everyone, I'm not trying to scare anyone, but PLEASE get it done as soon as possible!!!!!!

help for all owners that need the paperwork to get this fix. go to chrylser.com, click the 'for owners' link, then the 'recall notices' link. enter in your vin and they will give you the notice, which you can print and take to the dealer. this worked for me. as others have said and at least one person on this forum experienced (sorry to hear about your cruiser SuGamer!), this can be serious and should be fixed asap! i'd imagine you could even ask the dealer to use their computers to look up the recall! can't believe a dealer would ask a customer to wait for paperwork on a recall that can cause a fire!?!? i'd find another dealer if they said that to me.

Yes everyone please follow calicranberry's advice and print that out! This needs to get done. Forget the excuses; "I'm too lazy to take it in", "I don't have time", GET IT DONE! It wasn't fun. Not only did I lose my beloved PT, but I was treated like a nobody by DC. Don't let happen to you what happened to me. If you have a n/a PT, you need to get this recall done, no matter what your dealer says. Tomorrow, not next week or next month. Don't play with fire, you might get burned. I did, and it was before the recall was announced.

Calicranberry,

Thank you so much for posting that message, I entered my VIN and found 3 recall notices for my car that I haven't been notified about. Angers me because my wife and 2 month old son ride in that car everyday. Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I really appreciate it.
