BUBBLES CENTER DASH PANEL

Hey All!Has anyone else had the experience of tiny bubbles in the central dash panel where the heat controls and radio are locted? I have a 2001 lilmited inferno red with what they called taupe interior.[:I].I am no longer under warranty. Thought about replacing with one from scrapyard. Was wondering if this was common problem or maybe the previous owner put something on it.

Doesn't sound normal. The center dash panel does not get a lot of sun so it can't be blamed on that. Usually, the upper dash pad gets the heat treatment from the sun and cracking and peeling is the outcome. Sounds like the previous owner painted it him/her self with bad results.

Tiny bubbles? Just above the stemed glassware holders? Hmmmmmm? Was the previous owner's name Welk, Lawerance?

That happened to the center console bezel on my '01. It is the beginning stages before the paint starts to peel. There is/was a TSB for it but I don't remember what it is. The dealer replaced the bezel for free in October, 2002.

Sounds like the scrapyard is a good idea, or you might try ebay.

[8D] Or you could do what I did, Paint it to match your body color, The cover comes off real easy!

There have been a hand full of Cruisers that experienced that same problem. Under warranty the dealer will replace, no warranty, do as Jimbo or either Goldenturtle suggested. Sounds like time to do something different!

I have seen another car that had bubbling. The dash actually has a thin top coat of sorts on it and it peels.
I think its caused from airbubbles betwen the hard plastic and the top coat which expand and pop. Only thing to do is replace the top dash or sand it downand paint it custom.
