Default Neat note about 05's

We checked out a new 05 and found the rear hatch handle is different now. It is not split like the 01-04's, it looks like a Convertible one, but when you stick your fingers in it you feel a button on the underside.
The rear hatch is now electrically actuated.

Some 05 Trivia we tought we would share.

Didn't know that.I have to go to the dealer to have my recall
done.While I'm there I'm going to test drive a GT.They had an
add in the paper that they will give a you a turkey if you take a test drive. So why not.

I got a free $500 toy shopping certificate for taking the new GT out on a test drive. Unfortunately, you have to pay shipping, handling and processing fees on each toy...so there not exactly FREE.

Alini, thanks for the info on the rear hatch of the 05's. I'm sure some of our handy enthusiasts will find a way of incorporating that feature into their present ride.

Took my test drive.Told the salesman if it came in yellow and a 5 speed we would be talking.Got my certifacate and went home.By the way car checked out OK.The 05 I drove didn't have a button you either had to use the key or the key fob to open the rear hatch.

Then does the key fob have an additional button??? One that shows the hatch or trunk in addition to the lock, unlock and panic buttons??

I know the converts have an extra button on their fob, so its probably cost effective to use it too. The 'button' on the handle is not very thick, if you squeeze the handle as if to pull up on it your touch it.

Boy ,I must be stupid.I pulled and tried everything and couldn't
get the rear hatch to open by the handle. I did check to see if it was locked, it wasn't.Salesman told me you can only get it open by useing the key or key fob.I'm going back later on today to check this out.

Just went by the dealer today. They have a solid handle with no button on the ones I saw. Must use key (or RKE fob) to open. Also noticed a black shift knob with white pattern, and the tourings have no passenger-side key lock. The base models (like my '04) do, so this must be just for the RKE models. The A/C is a $1000 option, and there was no underseat drawer or rear package shelf (base). They are advertising the base '05s at 9977 with all the discounts.
