To be honest, I don't see much similarity..? how about a 40 Merc?

Yes, I know about the '40 Ford/Merc. I almost bought a '40 Ford back in 1986 for $5,000. It's a favorite of mine. (But it's not a CHRYSLER) If you want an example of a car similar in look as well as spirit, then how about the Volvo PV544? It's a 4 cylinder, about the same size. (But it's not a CHRYSLER) Sorry, no pictures.
The Chrysler Airflow was made in the early 30's and it's smooth, plump look was considered too far out by it's many critics. Most other cars had a square, boxy, stagecoach look.
Back to my original post, the Airflow is a Chrysler and the PT Cruiser is a Chrysler. That is the Point.
