Default Warranty Question

As I have said in past posts, my check engine light is on. It is the major evap system leak code (the # escapes me right now). Anyway, I have tried a few things on my own to remedy this with no luck. I was told a couple of weeks ago by the local stealership that it would be $90.00 just to diagnose it.
Anyway, again, I was getting a tire repaired the day before yesterday and the tech who pulled my car into the bay asked me if I knew that my check engine light was on. I told him yes and that I was trying to fix the problem myself, because I didn't want to pay the ridiculous stealership prices. He then asked me if I knew the code it was throwing. I told him the code and he told me that it should be covered due to the fact that that would cause the car to fail emissions. He told me that there is a 50,000 mile factory warranty towards emission problems. Now for the question, IS HE CORRECT? If so, would my aftermarket mods (turbo) do anything to nullify that? Would the fact that I bought the car used affect this? By the way, it has around 40,000 miles on it now.

P.S. Can I still have my car inspected for the power steering hose recall if it was purchased used? Thanks for any and all info.

Had the catalytic converter replaced on my wife's '01 PT at 68,000 miles for free.....The recall must be done by Chrysler no matter who owns the vehicle.

did you get an owners manual and a warranty book with it. I would check that out and read up on it first,if not you could probably take it to a local guy with a computer with a lower diagnostic fee. My guy has discs on or subscribes to a service that shows him about the different cars. He charges $55.00 p/h and puts that toward the fix.[?]

Just checked my warranty book. (2002) pg. 260 says: "FEDERAL EMISSION WARRENTY - SPECIFIED COMPONENTS 8 years, 80,000 miles. Hope that helps.

Can you try another dealer? Your guy sounds lame. Any dealer can do recall, no mileage limit. Not sure if turbo would be grounds for emissions warranty voiding.
