Default dash noise

My 2002 with only 18000 miles has developed a creaking sound that seems to come from the front of the dash at the bottom of the windshield. It is not really a rattle but a creaking/vibration sound that can happen at any time.I do not have to hit a bump for the sound to appear but just minor road irregularites will cause it. Even turning into my driveway will cause a creak. Before I take the car to my dealer, has anyone else experienced this or is there possibly a TSB on it? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!! Thanks

My windshield creaks too. at around 45-30 degrees. above that it is ok. anytime the body flexes, like yours does over bumps or irregularities, and like pulling into your driveway. I don't believe there is any kind of tsb for it. Just a kind of live with it thing. I mean, it is a pretty basic car. Like a tall first gen neon.

Mine squeeks, but it's due to the strut tower brace. Do either of you guys have one also?

??? Why? Only thing I could see is if strut brace rubs the underhood blanket - otherwise, strut bar shouldn't squeak. [:I]

Since it's 3 pieces (brace & 2 bracket parts), with no cushion in between the parts it connects, they rub a little and squeek. Doesn't happen all the time. I know it's not rubbing on the underhood blanket, becuase I disconnected one side of the brace and the way it was positioned, would have rubbed the blanket alot more. I only disconnected the brace just to confirm it was the brace making all the noise.

Mine makes that sound too and I thought I was the only one. It only makes it when I pull into my driveway up or down the curb.[:I]

Actually, that's about the only times mine squeek as well. Doesn't happen when I take corners hard.

Maybe raise the hood and oil the hamster wheel?

This may be one way to fix it. Remove: Window control switch, remove screw and remove center bezel (around the radio etc). Remove the two screws from the dash. Now remove the 2 window pillers, they attach with clips, a good hard pull with remove them. Then pull out and lift the dash above the guage panel and then the same thing above the passenger air bag. The top dash panel can be lifted out. Get some silicone stick and rub it around the front edge where it lays tight to the windshield and re-assemble.
