My malfunction light came on, and stayed on, with my 2005 PT Cruiser. It wouldn't start a few times, but eventually did. Malfunction light went off the next day, ran fine, then all of a sudden the light comes on again while driving down the road. Starts running badly;missing, etc.

Took it into the dealership, and was told the sensor had shorted out. Cost $225.00 to fix.

If you would have retrieved the code when the light came on and came here, you could have found which sensor it was and replaced it yourself saving a few dollars. Whenever the engine light comes on it sets a code in the computer to help diagnose the problem.

so glad i found this forum. my parents bought an o3 cruiser and 24 hours after purchase it began trippin out. mil kept comin on it wouldnt shift rite and was losin crazy power, and drank half tank of gas in like 36 miles. but we had a family friend that is a mechanic come check it out. he ran his computer on it, and kept gettin these 2 codes. 0300 & 2305 (may be 2350 ). either way it was comin up as a misfire. so they called autozone, they said that code meant it needed a new coil pack. welll.... that was not the case... so the next thing they said was, return that and try the cam shaft sensor. stilllllll not the case. finally i found this site an someone else posted about the same problems almost. the gentleman listed everything he had down to his daughters car... we replaced the plugs and wires an that was the exact problem. only reason we know y is because as soon as he touched the wire with the tool he got shocked. apparently ther was a hole in the wire, and since there was a hole it was causin a misfire.
