Default amps

Heres my dilemma, and it sounds kind of silly.

I have an Xtant 301a momo channel amp pushing 600 X 1 RMS at 2ohms. All of a sudden, it goes out on me about 2 months ago. Tonight I bought an Audiobahn A8000t which pushes 800 X 1 RMS at 2 ohms, and 1600 watts peak. I go to hook it up, and I have the same problem my old amp did. I tested it even more thoroughly, and came to realize that the in-line fuse to the battery was no good. I went to the local circuit city, picked up a pack of 4, popped the new one in and works. It sounds awesome! Now that I figured out the problem I could keep my old amp and take back my new audiobahn. So, should I keep the new one because it looks awesome and sounds awesome and it allows me to update. Also I lke the fact that I can get a remote bass controller. I paid $270 total for the new audiobahn (which is a lot for me being 16 years old.) Should I take the new audiobahn back and recover mt $270? What to do? I have 2 Polk Momo 2104 subwoofers. The 301a sounded great, had plenty of power, but not as much as the new audiobahn. I could also get probably 150 for the 301a and at least put back over half of what I spent today. What to do?

Depends on how badly you need $120 - that's the difference between selling the old one versus returning the new one. Is the new one worth $120 more to you? Only you can answer that.[:I]

This may sound like a conservative thing for a 21 year old to say, but what kind of area do you live in or go to frequently? I was surprised at how quiet from the outside the PT's are when you have any kind of stereo in our cars but making it louder and louder can attract negative attention. After losing a $1500 stereo and $700 in damage to my vehicle (not a PT) I've learned that stealth or simple is the way to go. Also, how much bigger is the new amp compared to the old one? Space saving is important in our cars. They're huge with the seats folded or removed, but if you have 4 people and luggage or out shopping then we're kinda screwed. Not so much space in the back there. I personally have a bazooka amp and 10 inch kicker made in a custom box that fits under the shelf in the rear at the first, above floor setting. I still have storage to the left of it even if the shelf is all the way down. I don't know how your setup is now but it may be something to consider.
By the way, my stereo sounds better with the stock headunit (stealthy) with the one ten as my other vehicle did with the super headunit, the two 12's, and the 600w mono amp, and capacitor in a double chamber sealed box. It's all about quality, not quantity. Like Crown Royal says.

sorry but im a bass adict - i have to tell you to go big, always bigger/louder/more/now!!!

the only time i have my stereo past 50% volume is when im alone because my girlfriend/friends can't stand it, expecally if i have people in the back. Currently Im running a 12" eclipse sub, and only at half power beause of the amp pushing it. In the next few months i will have another of the same sub with both running at 100%, actually over 100% since i will be slightly over powering them I LOVE IT....

Hi, my name in Ben, and I'm addicted to bass.

I agree with taylormade on this one.It would be hard to go back
to the one that doesn't sound as good.Look at it this way, you already thought the old one was bad,so what ever you get out of it
is gravy.

I think Taylor and Jimbo are right. I know it's hard to let go of the money when it hard to get it, especially when you are a teenager, and have alot more things you can spend your money on. But I do think if you are like the sound the new one produces compared to the old one, I'd keep the new one and sell the old one. That way you won't be losing out too much cash.

By the way, Benermin is that your PT? Awesome lamba doors.

Suprisenly, e-tronics and amazon have some pretty good prices. I just got a multi-printer at amazon.com for my granddaughter for $179 which was $20 cheaper after hours of searching on the web and came with a $50 mail in rebate, no tax no shipping. I have used e-tronics and have been very happy also.
