Default stopping the chirping sound

Can you set something so the car does not chirp when you lock it with the remote?

Sure!!

1. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn the switch to the ON position.
2. Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the transmitter for between four and ten seconds
3. Continue to hold the UNLOCK buttton and press the LOCK button.
4. Release both buttons.

A chime will sound to let you know the process is complete. Repeat the process to turn the horn chirp back on.

You are welcome. Should work for your '01. That's the way it works on the '03's. I hate that horn chirp noise. I turned mine off the day I bought the car and it hasn't been on since.

qsd, just went out and did MichaelDay's suggestion and it worked like a charm. Yes, you can hear the click of the locks and one flash of the lights.
