Default Chrysler Incentives

My mom and dad are looking at buying a new pt cruiser. They have picked out an 04 cool vanilla ltd cruiser but I was wondering if Chrysler was offering any rebates or incentives. I looked at the Chrysler website where I see that they say there is thousands back on 2004's. I read somewhere that there is $4500 back in rebates. Being that the pt is and 04 and it is one of 2 04's left on the lot, I was figuring that they would get a much lower price. The sticker price is 23,295 and the dealer only dropped the price to 19,746. What do you guys think? I would love to add another cruiser to the family. Thanks

I bought my '03 GT, fully loaded, in Feb 03 (before end of year clearance) and got the rebate applied AFTER I already negotiated a below-dealer-invoice price. I think my sticker was something like $27,027 (it has every option) and I paid $19,xxx after the rebate.

I'd suggest you start by negotiating for a price a little below dealer invoice, and then apply the rebate. If they are willing to give it to you, thank them and go to another dealer and try for better, maybe $500 below what they agreed to.

These days, I think PT's can always be had below dealer invoice before the rebate is applied.

I would think that would be an '05 price, not an '04 price. They can do better than that.

The dealer here in town had an 04 GT, sticker was around
26000 .He had it for 18900.So I'm sure you should do better than
19746.They really want to get rid of the 04's.

Cruisrman:

I'd say the dealer is playing you. Should get much better discount on '04. Invoice is the starting point for your negoiation; and then rebates AFTER that price. Simply to many available for them to not work with you. Shop, Shop, Shop. Good Luck!

Should be no more than 17-17.5. Let them know you'll walk out if it's not right.
And be ready to walk. It's in your body english. And there's plenty more PTs out there.
