Default Looks like I've got to wait to drive the PT

Well Folks, i was hoping this would have been my first post from home, but Uncle Sam has decided to extend me in place. My gut was telling me that i was going to be extended and sure enough i did. Most the newbies that have come over here don't have their training done for the mission and that's the bottom line on why i'm stuck here. To all of those who wanted a flag, I have them, i'm going to wait to send them from my house in NC so not to worry they will be comming. I'm flying Friday (downrange I think). I will offer this to all again. If you want a flag (won't be a big one) flown downrange, i need to know NLT Thursday. I need a name of who it is being flown for, and name and address of the person requesting it so i can mail it to you when i get back.

I'm just hoping to god i don't get stuck here like i did last deployment. The word on the street is that i should be here only until the newbies get up to snuff. Well i better get here.

I actually have a PT question for a change. I'm going to change the plugs and wires when i get home. I've narrowed it down to either magnacore or crane wires and bosche platinum plugs. Are these good choices or are there better ones out there?

Thanks everyone for your kind words and prayers!!

Jason

Hey Jason, I'm sorry to hear that. We all wish for your speedy and safe return. I didn't want to put you out of your way for a flag, but I guess if you're willing to send them, then I'd be honored to accept one. Please come home soon!

I don't think Bosch makes plugs for our Cruisers. The 2.4L engine uses longer plugs. NGK makes iridium plugs that are the exact size for the 2.4L. Iridium plugs are more conductive than platnuim plugs, but be careful if you check the gap; the center electrode is very thin and delicate. The Cranes and Magnecors kick butt! I personally got the Cranes under recommendation from Maggie at Race and Street, and couldn't be happier! The wires and the regapping of the plugs give the car a nice kick, and the wires were only $40 including shipping. I think the regular price is $49, so they are still cheaply price, especially since they only have 25 ohms/ft of resistance.

Yours isn't a GT, is it? Turbo plugs are different.
I went with Champion Platinum - made for the PT (MX-5, thank you)
- and Crane wires from Race and Street.
I don't know if the Bosch plugs are right for the PT. I think magnecore wires are good, but the Cranes are a deal.
I've had plugs & wires in for about 50,000 miles now, haven't missed a beat - I did have a slight miss at about 30,000 miles with original stuff. (now at 80,000 + miles).

I don't recall if you have a turbo or not, Jason, but if you do then skip the platinum plugs. What the the other guys have said is spot on so I'll not comment further. Cranes or Magnecors are your call based on how much $$ you want to spend. The Magnecors are a bit pricier but they come in red which fits in with my engine bay color scheme.

As for the flags, if you're offering I'm willing to take you up on that! Should I just PM you the info?

Thanks for all you're doing over there, stay safe, and God bless!

I must be out of date, whats the deal with the flags?

You should find many explainations on here for plug changing. I will look for you.

Here is a start

Sorry Guys, i should have given a little bit more detail on the PT. I have an 03 PT Classic (i WISH i had a GT!). Is it possible to put platinums in the standard engine.

KingKole02, MikeinOrange, and SuGamer:

Shoot me an email to Airevac19@charter.net with the name of who you would like the flag flown for and an address to send it to. About a month ago i posted what i thought would be my last down range mission and an offer for flags for people.

To everyone:
I'll be home (hopefully by next week). I will start to mail the flags out hopefully by the 13th.

Jason

Jason, sorry to hear you did not return home as expected but glad that you will be getting back to North Carolina by the middle of January. Stay safe and thanks for the flag -- looking forward to receiving it sometime in the future. [8D]
