Default MP3 player hookup

I've got the factory 6-disc in-dash CD player in my PT and I want to be able to plug in an MP3 player. I don't care if I can search songs using the stereo interface, I just want it to come out through my regular speakers. Does anyone know of any adapter kits that work with my radio?

Just bumping this thread again. I can't believe no one has tried to hook and MP3 player to the factory stereo.

do you know if the head unit has any kind of aux inputs available? i don't have the factory in-dash changer in my 01, just the cassette w/ cd changer control capapbillity. i've started to look around to see if there's some kind of adapter to allow a mini stereo jack to plug into the cd changer control. come to think of it, i dont even know if my head unit has aux input... what kind of mp3 player?

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=360 that would probably be what you need for a 2001. I just bought the 2002 verion and installed it last week (I actually ordered from them and shipping was very fast and support great). I use this with my mp3 player and it works great, or as great as the factory system allows. For the '03 I think it says you'd have to disconnect the cd changer part, so it is a tradeoff.

so this adapter converts the head unit plugs to rca, then you need rca to mini stereo, correct?

This plugs into the back of the headunit, then you just get the rca to mini-stereo, yes. Just hit the mode button and it goes over to the device.

too bad the adapter's so expensive. that's half the cost of a new head unit.

vk,

I looked at that website. They had a different adapter for '02-'05 PTs. Unfortunately, the adapters won't work with my factory RBQ radio (6-disc in-dash).
