I WILL NOT TELL YOU IT'S OK TO DRIVE LIKE THAT, BUT now that you have the fuse for the fog lights out and the cheap part has burned, you "might" be alright to drive for awhile. Did you check to see if your headlights are working ...same switch. You don't want to find out they aren't working after you go out at night. Maybe someone else here has a different view.

I can't tell you where to get a new switch. Others on the forum are looking for the same thing.

One of our member have said to buy the whole fog lamp kit, seems possible that is quite the expense for fog lamps. IF the headlamps don't work you may have to get a MF switch w/o fog lamps temporarily until they are again in stock.

You have to order the foglight kit. There is a multifunction switch in it. Costs 3 times as much but at least you will get a switch, and you can try to sell the other stuff separately.

PTBoutique.com is where I got the clue to do this. At the time I was looking for the switch, he had on there don't even bother to order just a switch itself because of the backorder, but if you really need one, to order the foglight kit. I ordered one from him and also had my dealer order one, and took the first one that came and cancelled the other order. Here is the link, there is a phone number, call him and see if he is now able to get you just the switch. Good luck!

I took another look and noticed that PTBoutique doesn't have the big long warning about the backorder, etc. So maybe he can get them for you in a timely fashion now. I was looking for one back in May, right before the big Chrysler shakedown. When I talked to him, it sounded like he gets his stuff drop-shipped from some dealer in Florida. Anyhow, here is the link for just the switch:

lucked out!! found a bone yard in LongIsland, had the entire assembly
shipped to Kenvil NJ for a flat $50, a couple of screws later and the
replacement was in - like i said i lucked out because it works great

my advice is to call the bone yards, and don't let them rip ya off,
also check craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums where there's always an opportunity just waiting to happen

ps: i contacted Mitch at Roxbury Auto Wreckers in Wharton NJ and said he can get one
brandy new for $85 - Roxbury Auto Wreckers
best-of-luck 2u!

Something I've done over the years is paying attention to the bulb numbers that are OE in every automobile I've ever owned..I found out that on two different Mercedes that the original bulb wattage was much lower than the American common replacements..This was mainly a problem with the tail/brake/marker lights on a 300..My current 450 seems just fine..When I bought it I thought the lights were a little DIM and replaced them with normal American bulbs ,that worked fine for a while and then switches started to go bad...Carried it back to the dealer for warranty repair..The first thing they did was check the numbers on the bulbs and as they were not spec bulbs the warranty was invalid..Seems that there were many people who had done the same thing..

On head and fog lights I run a separate relay with direct connection between the battery and the light.I use the original light leads to control the relays..I also use a breaker on the feed for each headlight pod ,that way if one trips out the other side keeps burning..I use a single relay and breaker for the aux lights..One of the other up side to this modification is a increase of 1-2 volts to the light, makes a real noticable difference in light output...Generally the higher power aftermarket lights pull more current than the original lights and therefore there is a greater voltage drop and current increase so the net lighting gain is really much less than expected..without the Aux relays.. On the light monitor panel you will get a light fault unless you add a resistor across the relay coil to fool the monitor into thinkint there is a lightbulb load....A lot of trouble until you are running @ 150+ and the lights go out..

My headlights and everything are still functional. I definitely cannot afford to pay 3x the cost for a bunch of things I don't need... also the reason I opted to do it myself rather than going back to a dealership. I have 1 lead on a place that has one in stock, and will hopefully ship to me. I'm a non-French speaker living amongst 98% French speakers, so 'calling around' usually leads to aneurysms, or ripping my hair out. I'll try this lead, and if nothing happens, I'll hold out until they're back in stock.

I'll take it as a good thing that no one said "No, you're car's going to catch on fire!" and live with it for as long as I need to.

Your referral to being non-French living among French leads us to assume that you are living either in France or Quebec, Canada. As you haven't filled out your profile its hard to tell.

Where I spent the first 6 years of my life everyone spoke a form of French mixed with a little English and a few Native American and Creole words The exception was a very small group of people that spoke German..English was rarely spoken as there were not many meaningful phrases, this was in Deep South Loiisiana..

Well... I did say in my first post in this thread that I needed someone who'd ship to Canada... so your 2nd guess is correct. I'll fill out the profile right now!
