Progressive has been very good to me. Even the hurricane damage to my wife's car was paid "on the spot". My home-owners insurance took 6 weeks to cut the check for damages. Progressive has taken care of a chipped windshield on my truck and a rear-end collision to my wife's car as well. Never any probs and no increase to the premium either.

We have our cars and house insured through Shelter Insurance and they are excellent. Very good response on claims and we have a superb agent.

USAA is so great. When I got sued, well my dad got sued cause I was under 18, for $350K by some money grabber(the only damage to her toyota was the taillight needed replacment....thats how small it was!). She was going after the $100 policey limit.

Most companies would have settled asap, but not USAA. They held out and fought her. They said they would give her $5k, she said no of course. When the lawer questioned her she said she had never had any problems with her wrist before I hit her. But the medical records dont lie. She went to a doctor with a wrist brace and said it was for carpal tunnel 4 years prior. They settled for $35k[^]

I love USAA.

Who do you buy your car insurance from?

Who's good? Who's cheap?
Who's good and cheap?

I've been with State Farm for serveral years, but am thinking that I might be able to save a few bucks, without loosing quality service if it is needed.

Any suggestions?

dude, try checking out http://www.oneshopinsurance.com cheaper. might help you. i was with also with State Farm before but had to drop it, they're way too high! And here are some tips. Make certain you get a reduced rate for the safety and anti-theft inclusions on your car's policy.

Along the same lines: do not get any moving violation tickets. Many insurance companies reward "good drivers", with good records. Stop at stops, no illegal turns, don't speed.

AMEN TO THAT!!!!
No agents - an 800 # - you go to them. Best deal there is, if you qualify.[|)]

zzzhuh, it might help if you had your state listed. Then people in your state could recommend Companies from there.

All these ads Say that they are cheaper is bull crap at least in NJ. If you have been with the same company for more than 3 years no other company can touch your rate. I have State Farm and I checked several companies and they were all higher than what I have now. Geico was $ 700.00 more than State Farm. The closest I could get to my rate was thru my wife's company and it was still $ 150.00 higher. The agent told me to say with State Farm. Any company you switch to isn't going to give you the lowest rate till you have been with them for 3 years or more. So much for lower prices.

Holy thread resurection Batman.

ANyway.

Not really commenting on the original poster as i'm sure they have their car insurance worked out.
As for companies. It all depends on the person & location.
GEICO, likes family oriented drivers. They WILL accept you but if you are single, have accidents & tickets, you will pay out of the butt. But if you are like me. Married & have a stable family life, your insurance is DIRT cheap. They reward people like me. For my PT with ALL coverage...i'm talking RSA, gas fill up, rental car, ect.. I pay $103/month.
Meanwhile I was quoted through Statefarm $245/month..FOR THE SAME COVERAGE.
I have ben with Geico since I came back from overseas. I have never once had issues with them. In Oklahoma I had hail damage to my Merc, within a week( IIRC it was like 3 days) I had a check, my car was in the body shop, & I had a paid for rental car.
At the time I also had a BMW & a VR4 my total monthly payment was $127.
Statefarm can't touch them because they also cover high risk drivers. Why should I pay high premiums because people do not know how to drive?

I am highly against these small local companies( Like FL NO-FAULT) who once the door closes at 5P.M. yo uar eon your own until next day. I will never recommend one of them to anyone.
