Default Headlight Issues

Ok guys, you never have failed me yet, please help. Tonight my low beams would not come on. This happened while on the interstate so it wasn't very fun. Pulled into a parking lot off the interstate and fiddly f))ked with them for 30 minutes and they finally started working again. Any suggestions? Is this something I can repair or check?

Jmack,

You don't fix or repair it, you have to replace it. I haven't done it myself, but that multifunction switch has been discussed quite a few times and those that have got a new one from the dealer say it isn't hard to replace. A couple screws and wire connections is all it takes. You could probably find one at a re-cycling dealer (junk yard) but then you can't be sure if it's in good working order.

Thanks Crewzin, I think by the time this is over I will know how to replace every damned part on this car.

I might as well order it. I am going to take advantage of the warm weather today and install my new door lock switch, so while I got the torx out I might as well learn how to replace that.

Jmack,
2 questions on your headlight dilema. 1.Have you had bad weather where you could have driven thru a puddle? 2. Do you have a trailer hitch or any other add on wiring?[:I]

So far my multifunction switch is doing OK but they can be a trouble spot. I have had them go out on Fords I have owned in the past (haven't had a problem so far with the ones on Cadillacs so far). I learned that if I try to always hold the switch by the stalk (rather than the end that rotates) when using the turn signals or the highlight dimmer the switches lasted MUCH longer. Just a thought.
