Hey Pat! The easiest way to find the EGR valve is to start with the pic Crewzin showed and follow that metal tube down to where the valve is. My 2001 Auto had it, and all PT's should have one since it is an emissions thing. If you stand against the passenger fender and look behind the intake manifold you will see where it is connected.

OK, just stuck the camera down behind the engine and pointed it where the EGR tube went. How the heck anyone can get in there and chaange the valve is beyound me. But here' the pick of where the tube goes....sorry about it being a little fuzzy.

Pat Blue Cruiser. By you picture, your right about not having the tube that connects to the back of the manifold, but as SuGammer said, all the engines need one. Maybe from the EGR valve down at the bottom (see my latest Pic) the valve is connected somewhere else on the engine or manifold. [:I]

You're the man Carey! [8D][8] Nice job on the pic! I think you can get to it if you go from under the car. Maybe the easiest way to change it.

Crewzin- Does the back of your manifold look like mine? I just seems weird that mine is different then yours and the pic from imagestation looks like. Why would DC have three different EGR set ups? What year is your Cruiser? Mine is a 2003 Touring Edition, 5 Speed.

Sorry for all the posts about this, but it is just one of those things that will bother me until I figure it out. OCD

Thanks agian guys,

Andy

BTW patbluecruiser is short for Patriot Blue Cruiser...

Mine is a 2001, born on date Aug 00. Hey, think of this guys .....maybe Chrysler moved the EGR tube from the back of the manifold to make it easier for us to change the spark plugs.

Pat Blue Cruiser...yes mine looks like yours but as you can tell with the different photo's, they must have moved the top of the EGR tube someplace else as you can see where the two different sized bolts would have gone on yours with the EGR tube in the center (larger)hole. What the brace is for is anyones guess...but it does mean that brace bolt will have to come off for the manifold to come loose.

Just took another look at mine. I do have a brace, but instead of being thin (1") like your, mine is about 2 inches wide and is attached to the top of the engine somewhere where I can't quite see it.

Hey Crewzin,
Ours is 2002, built April 2002 and the tube is in the same place as yours, on the back of the manifold with 2 different size bolts.

By the way - my stumble is gone - must've been plugs after all.[|)]

I've changed dozens of them.
You simply remove the airbox and reach right in.

The 2003 & newer PTs don't use one.
The common fault codes of P0401 & P0403 only effect the 2001 / 2002 PT engines.

Well, that certainly clears up a few question. Thanks MX-5 (Mike?) for clearing that up.
