Where's the EGR valve?
I've never touched mine, and have a slight stumble. I just put in new double platinum Champions ($25 at NAPA), and the old ones were fine, nice light greay & gap about .042 -.044, so doesn't seem that was it. I already have Crane wires, so EGR seems a good idea. |

Don, you know where it is! If you change the plugs then you had to at least lift the intake manifold up and out the way, right? Well, the "tube" on the back of the intake manifold (the one that has 2 bolts with different bolt head sizes) leads to the egr.

QSD,
I've replaced over a dozen of them on PTs. The valve is located just above where the engine and transmission seam meets. Removal requires the airbox be removed. There is the metal exhaust gas tube with 2 8mm bolts and a fiber gasket. The EGR mounts to the cylinder head with 2 10mm bolts and a metal gasket. There are 2 vacuum lines that go to the control solenoid, a black plastic pod moounted under the throttle body. It clips into the TB mounting bracket, and has a 3rd vacuum supply line and 1 electrical connector. The EGR only comes as a kit, including the solenoid. The cost is under $65. Replacement takes about an hour to R&R the assembly, perform a drive cycle, and clear the codes. |

Thanks everyone. I guess if I buy one, I'll figure it out by seeing it, once I have a new one to know what I'm looking for. [:I]
At least I know where to look now. Took it for a test drive - seems the stumble is gone - will know for sure on commute tomorrow. - I'll hold off on ERG. |

Car seemed fine on way in, but PCV valve I've done on other cars - usually cheap and easy to do, so why not? |
