Default wobbel, wobbel

I'm going to take the PT in to the dealer to set up appointment towmarrow, but first thought I would run problem by you guys so I might have a educated guss on problem, and so I'm not given a patsy story to shoe me off. When I go over a speed bump even slowly, the steering feels loss kind of like a wobbel. It also catches or jerks on any kind of quick turn. I know this is vauge but are their any one with similar problem, car has only 20,000 on it still warr. Any front end quarks I should be aware of?[:I] all help appericated.

Stirfry,

The only thing I've been hearing that may cause your symptoms are worn bushings in the front control arms. Mostly it's the PT Cruisers oversea with the bushing problem but a few have popped up over here. They can be replaced with better quality material (polyurethane) but the dealer would replace the whole control arm if that is what your problem is. But that's just a guess...anything in the steering linkage could be worn or broke or maybe something just needs tightening up anywhere in the front suspension. Good luck.

Let us know what they find.

Agree with Crewzin - that's what it sounds like. In the UK and Australia, the forums are full of problems with the suspension bushings. [:I]

I had my lower control arm bushings replaced on my 2003 GT with 25,000 miles on the odometer (warranty item). They just remove the old bushings and press the new bushings in. They will not replace the whole lower control arm.

BTW, the reason I knew the bushings had to be replaced was due to a "clunk" sound whenever I hit a bump. It sounds like the front sway bar is loose but upon further inspection it was not. The clunk sound is the lower control arm hitting the frame.

Thanks Guys, I set up a appointment for next week. Thinking back, I took a hard hit to a drain dip in a shoping center parking lot last week, the paint marking were warn off, felt like I fell in a hole when I hit it. I check the bumper to see if it was still on, that's how hard I hit. Since then steering isn't quite right. Maybe I bent something under their or mess up the bushings like you said. Thankfully I'm still under warrentee. I'll let you know what they tell me.

I don't guess you'd have a picture of where these bushings are located? I have the clunk problem whenever I hit bumps as well.

I just took this pic laying on the ground out in the garage. Hate to see the filthy underside of the PT when everything else is spotless...oh well. The bushing is the rubber mounting right above the top silver big nut. You can see it by looking in the front wheel well (either side) right in back of the tire.

Had the front in checked out, come to find out they said I have high spots on the tires on the front. The only thing the service department did was put a nice little cherry size dint in the hood from what looks like trying to shut the hood with the bar up, my guss. The bars bent also. I noticed it right away when I called it to thier attention they denied it completely. They had the hood up because I told them the brake lite goes on once on intermitely, reply was it must be fluid swashing around, they didn't even put in brake fluid. It was a little low. so much for the extended warrentee idea I no long trust those guy for squat. No way to prove anything its their word against mine. Sorry had to vent. Any other work I need done I'll be doing myself or someone I can trust.

I know of Many people who have had the dealer dent the hood from the prop rod .. I would not take that sitting down if i were you .. make a point of taking to the owner of the dealership
