Default Back door wheel well dust?

You know those vents in the wheel well inside back door. What is their purpose? They bring in a lot of black dust from road. When you open that door it looks bad if you don't keep up on it. Does anyone know if it would hurt to block the vent off so the dust doesn't come in.?[:I]

I'm trying to picture where you mean. Do you mean in the wheel whell or inside the back door "over the wheel well"? If they're inside the door, I could be wrong but I don't think those are vents, I think they're just ridged. I wondered why some time ago, then forgot about them.

Those vents are to release excess air and create a full air flow thru the whole car. I don't know if it would hurt to block them, but the air flow from front to rear will be comprimised.

That's interesting I'll have to look into how that works. Does anyone else notice how dirty it get around that area? When I run the air I run on recycycle maybe that's why.

Stirfry...
My PT is Cool Vanilla, almost white and I never have noticed any build up of dust. I just walked out to the garage to check and didn't see a problem. It has to be the "recirculate" mode is causing the air flow to back up a bit. [:I]

I've never noticed a build up of any kind. And I do travel beach (lots of sand) roads quite often.

This was covered some time ago. Can't seem to find the link,
as I recall you don't want to cover the vents.
