The instructions are in your owners manual in the glove box. If for some reason you don't have your owners manual, let us know and I will post the instructions.

Welcome.

According to the 2003 Owners Manual:

"You can program new keys to the system if you have two valid sentry keys by doing the following:
1. Cut the additional Sentry Key Transponder blank to match the ignition switch lock cylinder key code.
2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no longer than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the first key.
3. Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition switch ON within 15 seconds. After ten seconds a chime will sound and the Theft Alarm Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the second key.
4. Insert a blank Sentry Key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime with sound. The Theft Alarm Light will stop flashing, turn on for 3 seconds; then turn off.
The new Sentry Key has been programmed. Repeat this process to program up to a total of 8 keys."

Without 2 valid keys, it is back to the dealer for them to reprogram.
Hope this helps:

I belive Depot3d was looking for instructions for programming the transmitter rather than the key. Page 21 of the 2003 PT GT Manual:

"Up to four transmitters can be programmed to your vehicle. Your new vehicle was shipped with two transmitters. See your dealer for additional transmitters

Additional transmitters can be programmed to the system by using the follow procedure:

1. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn the switch to the ON position.
2. Press and hold the Unlock button on the transmitter between four and ten seconds.
3. continue to hold the unlock button and press the Panic button. A chime will sound to indicate that the transmitter programming mode has been entered.
4. Press a button on all transmitters to be programmed to the system, including any previously programmed transmitters. A chime will sound when each transmitter has been programmed.
5. Turn the ignition switch off to exit the transmitter programming mode."

Does this mean that if one of the origional key fobs isn't there when you program a new key fob, that it won't work anymore after that?

I haven't tried it that way but the manual could seem to imply that would be the case.

Hey guys, just found the forum and it looks like a wealth of info. I have to get a new keyless remote for my newly acquired 2002 LE cruiser and was curious if this same method would work on that model too?

The 2002 should work the same way.

Will this work if you only have one remote? I know you need two keys to program those. I bought my car used and hate the idea of only having one way to get into the car if I lock myself out. I was thinking of just getting another remote to keep for lockouts if it will work that way.
