Default Should I buy a PT Cruiser?

I am looking for a new (used) car. I am tired of all of the cars looking the same. It is hard to tell the difference between manufactures. I am very interested in the PT Cruiser. I have found web sites dedicated to problems the car has, but what mass production car does not have quirks. So I wanted to ask owners of the PT Cruiser if they are happy with there cars.

Thank you

Your help will be appreciated!

It's a great and fun car! It you can get a turbo GT, it's the way to go. Shop around and you can probably pick up a used 03 GT fairly cheap.

Happy hunting!

Funniest (is that a word) car I've ever owned. Had mine since July of 2001 and would buy another one tomorrow if wifey would let me.

I own a 2003 GT, and it's the best car I've ever owned. The car is amazing in very way. It is a small car, but it's relatively tall which gives you a great driving position.

The great thing about buying a used PT Cruiser is that the depretiation is worse than the reliability. Most people think that high depretiation is bad. But it's only bad if you buy new and sell in a couple years. But if you buy used, you can take advantage of the bad reputation Chrysler has which is NOT applicable to the PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser reliability is on par with the Japanese, but you can get used Cruisers for a bargain.

I got my 2003 GT with 4,500 miles on it a year ago for $17,000 from CarMax. You can read more about it and see photos at my PT Cruiser photo site at:

You're kidding, right? You're asking PT owners if you should buy a PT? Of course you should! The most fun car I've ever driven (GT Turbo). It's small, but holds a lot of stuff. It's very different looking (alah '50s street rod). And you can have a blast with all the Mods that can be done. GO GO GO......NOW NOW NOW.......

I have 85,000 miles on mine - best car I've ever owned. Bought a used one for my daughter and have an '05 on order.
All cars are compromises - I like the combination of compromises the PT offers - small on the outside, big on the inside; comfortable ride, but not a rolling sofa; resonable performance and gas mileage.

Close a door on a PT and it "thunks", doesn't have a tinny sound. It's indicative.[?]

Mab.....Go for it, just do your homework in selecting a used PT as your own.

Please share the web sites "that you found" dedicated to problems....actually the PT has a really good reliability record over the last five years....and problems don't seem to affect a majority of the 800,000 built.
