A couple years back when the PT's were hot off the shelf, I got waves all the time. Now, when I give a high-beam flash, nobody responds. Although if I'm trying to turn left at an intersection or getting onto the freeway, if a PT's coming they will usually slow way down so I can go. I notice the trashed PT's a lot, no pride in their vehicle, just something to drive from A to B. Breaks my heart.

This topic comes up once in awhile. I notice that mostly those with modified PTs wave. Very few stock ones do. I wave but don't get many returns.

It's a very mixed bag here in Western Washington state also. It seems that many people consider the PT Cruiser "just another car", good general transportation, and "nothing really special" at all. However, a much smaller number of PT enthusiasts are "with it" [?] as is demonstrated by their waving, modding, and participating in local and regional PT events/activities. [8D] [^]

Mixed bag here in my part of Florida. Most PTs around here are bought for cheap transportation and the owners/drivers could care less about seeing other PTs on the road. You can tell by the condition of the cruiser itself...the brake dust on the wheels has never been touched and the chrome/plastic wheels are pitch black. [:0]
Agreed [:I]

Being in Florida for only three years I'm still shocked at the brake dust on not only PT's but all makes and models as well. And yes it seems the owners of PT's with mods are doin' all the waving.

I get about 50 /50 here in Nebraska.A few Saturday's back
I was at a red light and a silver Cruiser from out of town
came by so I waved. The lady in the passenger seat smiled and
waved back so much I thought Her arm was going to fall off.
That's why I keep doing it.Don't give up

I have found that when i was driving my 01, after painting it with purple flames I got more waves & smiles. Lots from younger kids. many times I would hear them say "HOT WHEELS"
Now with my more plain looking newer PT, I don't get as many on the road driving, but when I am parked & the car is clean more people com up & ask me about it. They love the cool Vanilla color, then of course ask the 2 most common questions... how do you like it?... & how's it on gas?

I've mostly found when i park the PT its is person of much more experience and litle kids who respond to the car, and adding the flames def helped. even when i am school and my mom or dad drive the car people sometimes as about it, mostly about how the flames were done but its still nice to hear. I also know what you mean about the good old days my parents got the car in i belive january 01 or dec 00 it was the second demonstator the chysler dealer had. My parents used to get stopped all the time and asked about it.

In Eastern PA other PT owners can be rather cold about returning the wave. About 1 in 5 here as well. I've started waving more blatently to try & elicit thier acknowledgement, with limited results. Before I modded my PT I still waved back to the modded ones that waved first, but now that mine is modded as well I've also noticed the phenomenon of modded owners being more likely to return the wave. They are probably more likely to really be into PTs than - as one member has stated - someone who gets a PT w/o really appreciating it like we on the forum do, whether ours are modded or not.
