Default New Pictures

Got the PT back Saturday. The weather cleared up and I thought I would take some pictures. The damage to the drivers side was fixed. The bumpers were painted to match the mirrors, I think they are darker than they were. Its hard to tell from the picture. They look a lot better than I suspected. No more fading bumper with duct tape marks. Next I think I will tint the fronts to match rear, shave the chrysler wing on the hood, new tail lights and dress up my head lights.

Oh yeah, MUCH darker, but it looks great!!! The original style is a charcoal grey.

My front facia had been replaced because it seems that there was no primer under the original paint, and it began to peel. So now, while the front is fine, (no tape marks) the back has tape marks. I get them to disappear using STP son-of-a-gun.

Your ride is looking real good.

Srg, Ive got the same thing happening with my whole front fascia. Can I get it replaced free of charge, or did you have to pay for it?

TaylorMade;

Well, as usual, there is a story. I thought I had a small rock-chip below the bumper near the air scoop by the fog lights. It grew to 1/2 inch in diameter, with a peeling ragged edge.

I had taken the car in for a couple of minor warranty repairs, the drivers door check and told them about the peeling paint.

When the car was ready, I asked them why they didn't do anything about the peeling paint. I had to go to the body shop manager, and he explained that since they found NO primer under the paint on the front facia, it HAD to have been replaced and a defective paint job had been done. Of course, Chrysler would never pay them for the warranty repair.

I told them that the car had like 6 miles on the odometer when I bought it, NEW and that, to my knowledge NO work had been done on the car.

I told them that it was unacceptable and that I wanted to see the Chrysler area representative. They called me back later that afternoon and told me that after explaining the situation, the Chrysler rep had oked the repair. They ordered a new front facia, painted and installed it.

It is a mystery to me how a complete facia can get painted without a primer. More likely the car was damaged in shipment and the original dealer, (not the one doing the work) didn't want to own up to selling me a damaged car.

All I can say is go for it, the dealer will WANT to do the work, as long as he knows Chrysler will pay for it. It should be covered under warranty, unless they feel it has been damaged or replaced before. The problem is, how do you prove you didn't have damage and have work done on your car?

Good luck;
SRG

Alright, I actually went to the repair shop that worked on my car about a year ago. They replaced the front fascia, and it just recently started peeling. They also didnt even use primer. When I went there today, they admitted it was their fault, and are repainting the entire fascia, including the bumper. I get a free painted bumper! Now All i have to do is find tape marks on the rear, and i get a free rear painted bumper!

That the E&G Classic Grill? Looks like mine. I put black duct tape on the paint behind mine, because mine's silver.
Good bodywork is an art, isn't it? After a deer committed suicide on mine, I got it back looking brand new.
