Okay.....it worked. [8D] I posted pics of the black roof box a couple of months ago. Since then I've used Krylon Fusion paint to paint it white for two reasons: 1. to better match the PT and 2. to lesson (hopefully) heat build up in the Texas sun. The paint color is Dover White and it matches my Stone White PT pretty well.

Much better!! [?] Now painting the bracket will complete the stealth look (Don't you just hate it when someone suggests more work??)

Looks nice where did you get it, and what do you haul in it? Can you secure it I don't see a lock?[8D][8)]

Thanks OC and Gonzo! I thought it turned out okay. Took 4 cans of spray paint though and could really use another to touch up a couple of places where the black still shows a little.

Michael: I was actually thinking of painting the rack now that I've seen it on the PT. Hmmm...need more Fusion I guess.

Stirfry: It's a Yakima 15S box that I got from REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) on sale and with no shipping, an important consideration if you have to have one sent to you. Not cheap to ship a HUGE box. The 15S seemed to fit the PT roof area best. I was trying to decide between a small trailer and the roof box and the box won. I'll use it when we go on trips to hold the bulky, lightweight items that would otherwise take up a lot of space inside. First real use will be in about a week when I load up for a camping trip to west Texas. Tent, sleeping bags, clothes, etc. will go up top so I have more room to carry the telescopes I take with me.
Thanks all!

I remember your first post back before it was painted. The curve of the roof box works well with the roof line of your Cruiser and now the matching paint really brings it together.

I'm the guy who suggested that you put a pair of chrome front door spears on the box to follow what you have on your car doors. You most likely won't be able to buy just the front pair, though. What about a trip to the home center for some curved chrome cabinet handles and putting those on? That would give you a little bit of bling to match the look of your PT and be a practical way to handle the top and not ding the new paint.

It looks great now so no big deal if you say "It's finished". Thanks for sharing with us yet another way to customize. Enjoy your trip.

Oh...Stirfry, there is a built in key lock on the roof box. It got painted over too so it's hard to see.

2step: I like the spear idea! Chrome handles might be good as there are no handles on the box as is. If I put them on the "beltline" they could serve as a way to open the top easily. You have to just lift up on the edge of the top to get it to open now.

Looks beautiful. I agree with 2step about the chrome, and MichaelDay about the rack! Looks great!
