I got an offer for an used WIPPLE SUPER CHARGER kit for $1,200 free shipping. Comes with everything. I'm still 50/50 on this. What you guys think? I have a 01' Too tempting. My friend is telling me to save the money.

With a new one they claim a 45% increase in hp. That would be close to a GT and that is just not so. I would think like maybe 20-30 more hp. That's not too shabby. Why was it taken off of the guy's PT? How many miles on it. $1200 is a lot of money to give to someone you don't know for something used that you are buying from a distance. I'd rather spend around twice that and get a Hahn turbo with stage 1 that runs around 6 psi without doing any internal engine work.

Does the Whipple come with the newer computer? or the diffuser plate? If not, RUN AWAY from the deal. I have friends with Whipples who cannot stop the check engine light from coming on.
Personally, if you want more power, trade it in for a new or used turbo. You will be much happier. In stock form, the turbo PTs appear to be very reliable. I own 2 GTs, so I can attest to their reliability. Scott

Yes, buy it. Now. That is the best deal Ive ever heard on any kind of aftermarket forced induction for the PT.

I'd say NO. You've had too many problems with the stock vehicle. Modifying it will only add complexity. You've had problems getting a stock clutch installed. How will a used hop-up part be easier? Like ElectricBlueGT says, if you want more, trade up to a GT. Either way, good luck.

i say yes. i have a whipple in my 2001 & have not had one bit of a problem. course pt tuning installed mine. problems i have heard about are because s.c. was installed by a person or shop that really didn't know what they were doing, or trying to modify it more. contact Vince at whipple if you need any tech support or have questions.........[8)]

I have a 5K watt Audiobahn sound system in my PT, with a custom speaker encloser that takes up the whole rear & 6 dvd screens. so yea it added some weight, but it still hauls butt with the Whipple S.C. Check it out in the current spring issue of cruiser quarterly. I'm on the cover if you have any questions. [8)]

If I still had my 01 LE I'd do it. I had many conversions w/ Maier at PT-Tunning about it. What you need to know is the serial # off the blower. Call Pt-Tunning, ask for Maier. he will tell you what vintage it is.
Depending on how old it is, you might be able to get some free upgrades form Whipple/PT-Tunning. The known problems they have fixed & there are quite a few who are very happy with their Whipples. Then on the other hand. About $2500 would get you a Hahn's stage 1 turbo kit. Then again, both still have to be installed.
