Default Mobil Clean 5000 Oil?

http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/Mo...000_5W-30.aspx

Has anyone tried this? I was at Wal-mart last night and they had this stuff for about $1.70/qt. I normally use Valoline but it was almost $2.00/qt. I figured I would try it. I will still change the oil in 3,000 miles.

Any thought?

If you change at 3,000 miles, you will be fine.

??? $1.70 ??? That sure isn't synthetic! If it is/was, I'll be running down to the local Wal-Mart before I hit send on this reply.

Mobil-1 has also come out with 5K, 7.5K & 15K Synthetic oil besides still keeping the regular formula around. The longer their interval between changes, the higher the price goes.

It doesn't say it's synthetic.
As to the Mobil 1 extended oils - it's only about $2.00 more for a 5-quart jug.

Wal-mart did have the 5 qt jug of synthetic for $20.00, though. I tend not believe the hype but since it was a little less than what I normally spend, I thought I would try it.

It wont be in the 'cruiser long, as I am leaving for Daytona this weekend. It about a 1000 mile drive each way.

Andy,

Comin down to Daytona early huh? You can be first in line to get on the track at Cruise IV Turns out there's some other kind of cars going onto the track and they are asking anyone in a PT to be there at around 6am. [] We have a few going over from the my local Nature Coast PT Club. It's a little shorter from here than your 1000 miles.

Yeah...we are taking our annual family vacation the week before the Daytona Event. We are staying in Daytona Beach Shores at the "luxurious" Magic Carpet Motel. For some reason we always like the "mom and pop" motels. Plus, the price is right. The other reason for heading down early is to scout out a surf board.

See you there!

"Trying" the synthetic for one change doesn't do what synthetic oil is really best for - helping your engine live longer. It might slightly increase your mpg though. Synthetic oil is added at the factory for some high end cars.

I use Mobile 1 and I change oild sometimes 4000miles sometimes 6000miles depending if I have time or not for years all ready with many different cars. The thing is that you need to remember to add some oil 1/2 between oil change for all cars. I have keep to this and all my car runs without engine or overheating problem before I sell them. All of them working fine and still going strong some at 150,000
