Default Wind Noise

Any body out there that is having a high pitch whistle sound from the mirror/door belt area that is heard at 30 to 50 mph...either right or left side...There is a new TSB dated Mar, 2005. The number is 23-021005. It involves removal of the mirroe and a relocating of the outher belt foam stuffer...It looks to be for 2004 and 2005 models...Got the info from Ptdoityourself site...

I have the same problem, starts at 65 mph. especially on windy days. I had in channel windscreens installed and thought they were the source. When I removed the screens is when the whistle appeared. Glad you posted the thread... gives me a new option.

I had a whistle on my car and changed the antenna to a shorty antenna. The whistle went away. You might try that?

I installed PTeaser retro mirrors bought from Race and Street and the wind noise disappeared. I placed foam in the holes where the remote cables ran through on the manual OEM mirrors. This seems to confirm that the noise is due to the mirrors as suggested by the above mentioned PTdyi site.

I had my 2005 PT cruiser twice for the wind noise. First time, the noise was started at 30mph. The dealer stated that they had to adjust the window, etc, and now the noise is at 50mph or so. Next time, if I keep the car (litigation on the VA lemon law), I will give them the TBS number for repairs again.

Thnaks

Actually do not need to completely remove the mirrow to add foam. If you wish to however, this is how I did so. Mine are the manual remote...pry off the inside cover, easy to do with a screwdriver. Disconnect the plastic cable housing. There are three screws attaching the mirrow to the frame. Remove the lower left screw last. Once all three screws are removed the mirrow will fall out on its own. To reattach reverse the process except start the lower left screw in first.
