Default with or without supercharger?

My 17 yr old has his sights on a 2001 PT with a Jackson supercharger. I must admit it is a head turning car in excellent condition, but I have reservations about the supercharger. The seller will remove it if we want to buy it that way. Any of you people have any history or stories (good or bad) about this supercharger? Thanks for any advise.
James

Haven't heard any horror stories, several folks have them.
My suggestion - see if there's a way to turn down the amount of boost - that will keep son and the engine happy longer. Take it off completely and son will be disappointed. Not sure if it's adjustable, but a different pulley size would do the same thing.
If you know a good mechanic, have him check the car over.

It is like anything else if the car has not been abused and maintained properly it will be OK. If not watch out supercharger or not. I would see if the guy raced the Cruiser regularly and if he boosted the standard boost of the supercharger both problem areas. You know what they all say though "Better never lost than never raced"!!

keep the supercharger on there. The Jackson unit is fairly new to the market so it should be in good working order. i have not heard of any problems with this s/c.

Let him keep it. The car is safer than a ricer. His buddies will be jealous cause he has a nicer car that he doesn't have to cram himself into.
It will also promote the PT Cruiser to the younger crowd. around here us old timers are the ones buying them... [:I]
