With the '05 models, and since Chrysler's misguided decision to offer a stripped PT, this is what happened. The stripped model is now the PT Cruiser, which was last years base. Last years base model is now called the Touring, but since it was the base, it has no touring suspension, or turbo option. The Limited (G package, has cloth, and painted 16 in alloy wheels, and was last years Touring). The Limited (K package has leather, and chrome alloy wheels, same as last year). Both Limited models can have the turbo-lite option, and touring suspension is standard. Chrysler's new advertising slogan must be, "keep 'em confused". It's working! Darrell

There was a time, not too long ago either, when car companies did just the opposite. What a shame. I'm even happier about getting the two we have when I did. Our two Limited Editions (2001 & 2002) came with everything.

Wink Re: No Chrome wheels on Limited editions?

Well, I am not happy about it, I am going Monday to buy my first and it has bolt on wheel covers, not sure what the look like but I am sure I will change them hehe. If nothing else I will put on baby moon covers. Does anyone know what size the snap on baby moons are for the 15" wheel covers? BTW I bartered for 2 weeks with deals from AZ to MN and got my '08 LX with air and automatic for under $15,000 so I don't mind having to shop for new wheels, I can choose my own hehe.

The bolt-on covers look pretty convincing as alloy look-alikes.
They aren't bad at all.
15" tires are WAY cheaper, and if you get snow where you are, narrower is better in snow.

I remember the same thing in the early 90's with the Lebaron's. The problem is when a new model comes out, it's hot and there are waiting lines to buy them. As the model ages, demand sags and newer hotter models appear to compete for the business. The decontenting is to make the price a bit more competitive, and stretch the lifespan of the model out for a couple extra years.

Well I got my new PT, it was an adventure. We left Sunday for Oklahoma City. Got a hotel and went out to eat and celebrate. Got to Bo* M**re Chrysler at 8 am. The salesman came tooling up with a filthy PT off the back lot!!! He knew we would be there, after all we drove 300 miles to buy it. I got inside and started checking off the options. I had printed them off their web site (complete with vin#). Every other one I would ask where it was and I got a "mayyyme, that is not on this one. I said it is listed on the website with the vin#!!! Needless to say we left, to their shock. Their bait and switch did not work!!! We drove off and called our hotel to get our room back. Went in got, on the net and called the greatest dealership. We did a mad dash (another 300 miles)to Morrilton AR. We got there with a half hour till they closed. They had my new baby, clean, gassed, with tem tags and paperwork filled out, oh and they let me write a personal check to pay cash!!!! So if you are looking for a new car, these are the best and the cheapest. And I compared prices from Arizona to Minnesota. Oh BTW, when we got home after drivng nearly 1,000 miles we were less than 200 from where we bought it hehe.
