Default No Chrome wheels on Limited editions?

The PT club I belong to had a cruise-in at our sponsering dealer yesterday, and while there I was looking at the new PT's they had on their lot.

I saw some limited edition PT's with silver painted alloy wheels, and cloth seats. I thought the Limited edition PT came with Chrome wheels and leather seats standard. There were also touring editions with wheel covers. When did Chrysler decide to dilute the Limited/Touring/Classic options?

If it's true what your saying, the answer to your question is the same answer as to why Chrysler deleted the: vanity cover, breakaway mirrors, cargo net, rear shelf, passenger door lock, lighted switches and probably a few others I can't remember right now.

Chrysler has been diluting every model every year since '02.

I've noticed a lot of the Limited Editions in my area with after market wheels. Chrysler saves money by not making them part of the package and the consumer has more moeny to spend on accessories.

In the end, it's the almighty dollar that speaks louder than words or at least that is what my Republican friends tell me...

Somehow, I don't think that the price of a PT Cruiser has been lowered enough to compensate for the lack of leather interiors and chrome wheels. You are correct when you say that Chrysler saves more money per PT Cruiser without these. And, Yes, it's the money that does the talking.

Apparently they did it with '05 model year. The Touring Edition is now basically a base with A/C standard - doesn't even get the Touring suspension!!!!!
For '04 the turbo lite I wanted came in either Touring or Limited Editions - not for '05 - Limited only. They have 2 categories of Limited - Silver painted alloys & cloth (which I got) or Chrome-clad w/leather. In all cases, real chrome wheels as on GT cost extra.

BTW, the passenger lock is missing ONLY if you have RKE. They have decontented on a regular basis. They have also made a great car that just about everyone here has added to/changed. I still think it's one of the best cars available.

Check the spec sheet- perhaps there is a CREDIT for non-chrome wheels. back in 2001, that was done when there was an availability issue with LE dimpled rims...

Sean;

I've been looking at online Chrysler dealer inventories in my area and the sad truth is that there are a lot of Limited editions with cloth seats and painted wheels. Yes, they are less expensive.

The really outragous thing, (which QuickSilverDon pointed out) is that ALL of the Touring editions on the lots of the 4 dealers I've checked, DON"T have Touring suspensions!!! and they have 15in wheels with "bolt on wheel covers".

I guess if you're buying your first PT Cruiser, and you don't know any better, you would be fine. Unforturnetly for us, I guess we were spoiled.
