Welcome and sorry to meet you under these circumstances. I also will vouch for Allen Samuels, my house was about 10 minutes from his dealership and he was the only one I'd allow (well, his dealership) to touch my car when I lived there.

No, it won't "may" resurface, I'd bet my next paycheck it WILL become an issue and not too far in the future.

I suggest that you go ahead and replace not only the water pump but the belt too. I know, I know, it's normally associated with mileage, but rather be safe than sorry. If you take out the pump (which really isn't that terribly difficult) then do the belt too. Just a suggestion...

Cool Re: Blown Head Gasket?

i have had some experience with this problem, just not on a pt. i have a 91 acura integra, when i bought it it had a blown head gasket, i did all the wrench work myself. i was on a forum and was given advice. it really was dead on. these forum sites really are the best place to get advice.

and yes, resurface it. never replace a head with doing that. you will
(NOT MIGHT) regret it.

please see my post if you have experience with this.

$600 sounds cheap to me. Also when was the timing belt last changed because this is the time to do it and that repair as I understand is closer to $1200. With all that said I would find someone who will warranty there work.
