I've heard of a few places around the country that have banned cruising during certain hours, and 1 or 2 places that have banned it altogether at any time. Hot Rod Magazine had an article on it a few months back. Some towns around the country got fed up with long lines of "cruisers" parading slowly down the main streets blocking traffic. [:I]

where i go to school at, the town has had a ban on cruising through town on the regualr "circuit" since the late 60's . My autoshop teacher from hs went to school here also and told me the ban statrted when 2 auto kids were dragging down the 1st straightaway through town and then really went for it down the 2nd straight. A malibu waggon i believe it was popped a wheelie and landed front tires through the windshield of a car that ran the red light across the street they were racing on. Killing 4 people and himself.

Thus a cruising Ban. But this seems to stop no one as i see older muscle cars and newer sports cars dragging up and won the same roads ever night.

They have banned cruising here at any time. The reason is they said rival gangs were cruising and ending up shooting at each other, getting into fights in parking lots and so forth. It's kind of a bummer because I remember cruising in the 60's here and just having a great time with hardley any problems. Oh well I guess we will have to start using country roads!!

[:I] We have a cruising ban here in Hagerstown. So the 'kids' stop at a mostly empty shopping center, just to hang out, and the police hassle them to move on. We do have a very active multi brand car club that meets every sat. eve. at the local mall parking lot. There will be about 100 to 130 cars there. Some junk, some magazine quality. All are welcome, the Burger King and the mall love it, for the extra business it brings. Somebody needs to tell the police and local merchants cruisers (not just us) spend many dollars$$$$$$$!!!
Sorry for the vent. But most cruisers dont cause trouble!

When I used to live in Marysville, WA there was a no cruising law that I thought might have been a little over the top. Not like most cops pay attention, but if they say you go down the main drag more than 3 times in the same hour you got popped for cruising. Soooooo what if you're a pizza guy? Delivery guy? Never made sense to me[:I]

Bummer. The city I spent my High School Years also has banned Cruising. On Sunday, we would Cruise from one end of town to the other all day. From the What-A-Buger to the Tastee-Freeze.
Now for the ironic part. The city is Race City, Mooresville, N.C. You would think with so many NASCAR Teams based in the nearby areas that Cruising would be alive and well.

We are lucky. There is a 'cruise night' at a different location most nights of the week. 2 years ago, I even 'cruised' my race car with open headers here in El Cajon, after asking permission.
