Default My PT AC update

The AC seems to be cooler today after I release some of the freon. Someone told me if I overcharge the system which I did the compressor won't work properly. The system was in very hi PSI. right now it's back to just very full. Maybe that was the cause. so far I really have to test it on a really hot day but today it reached 91 and it was still very cool inside. Also my friend who was in my car say the cooling feels fine so maybe it's just me

Too much refrigerant can be as bad as too little, I learned. Just like the three bears, it has to be "just right".

I think so too

Earlier today which was rather hot out side but the AC seems to work just fine. It would still randomly(when I floor the gas somethimes) turn off buy it self for maybe 5 second but besides that it's back to almost as cold as before all the problem

The system is still at a very hi level around 50PSI ....vs. 80psi before I release some freon. Should I release more freon or just leave it this way if I'm OK with it. Full on the gauge is around 21psi.

Do you guy think if I let out more freon the compressor would work even better?

Ctown,
As for the A/C cutting out when you floor it, that is normal! The computer senses you are looking for power when you floor it so it shuts off the A/C until you back off the throttle to a certain position or below and then turns the A/C back on.

Yes I do notice that but if the AC was cooling as of before I release some pressure(freon) from the system those occational turn off made temperature inside hot.

The AC is cooling better today which the temp reached 96. It was even bearable being in the car within minutes after having the AC on. After having the ac on for 15mins with recirculating air the inside actually feels chilly but if I use the outside air the cooling just would not do for me.

I do notice after really being super sensitive to the operation of the AC system for almost a week now that the cooling would stop IF the car goes uphill, when you floor the gas or if you're in a higher gear than you should. Those are the only time the cooling would stop. So if your AC doesn't cool as well as it should than you will hate those 5-6 seconds of moist air coming out of your vent louvers.

I have as my boss about having too much freon in the system and he said if the system has too much pressure the freon won't be able to expand and will not cool....so the question is should I release some more freon .....I think will release somemore tomorrow but as of now I can finally live with the AC and accepting the fact the PT is what it is

My A/C works great in any mode with the fans on high as long as the ambient temp is not over 105. After that only Max air works and then only after a few minutues to cool things down with the windows cracked. I think that is pretty good for a small car with a small engine.
