Default 5-Speed Manual Transmission

This was my first manual car, and i must say the nicest car i have ever driven. Who else had the 5 speed? Why did you choose it?

Because most of the cars I drove were manual. this is my 2nd PT, 1st was a 01 LE auto. loved the car, had a love hate relationship with the tranny. Found out I really missed shifting gears about 6 months after I bought it.

What I really found out was I REALLY, REALLY love the TURBO w/ the 5-speed!!! [8)][8D]

Also, do you have that funny gear pattern? The one with R next to first?

YUP. Doesn't take long to get used to it. What is a pain , is when others need to move your car. And since I have an after market shift knob (MOMO Carbon Fiber without a shift pattern, pics on the 2nd page of my web site) I have to explain to anyone that has to move it where reverse is. Most have no idea that the GT has reverse left of 1st. Even a couple of the guys that move the cars at THE DEALER have had trouble moving my car.One guy put it in neutral and rolled it out of the parking spot. Pretty bad, huh? But, I love it.

All the original magazine tests said the manual was better, I prefer manuals, and the auto has a history of problems. No choice for me...

MY reasons were pretty much the same

The reason I got the manual in the 1st place was that I need to to LEARN manual. It's one of those thing that I said to myself way back in the college days that once I get enough $ after school I'll learn manual.

ANother reason was that most review said that this car is total power weakling without a manual and I can agree enough. even with manual the car is still slow.

But as for now this will be probably my last manual I'm an auto guy I'm just too lazy to shift and those new auto manual boxes(tiptronic) are getting better

My '03 is a 5-speed. I absolutely love it. I got the 5 speed because it is slightly cheaper than the manual and my experience with 4 cyl, AC and autos were bad. no get up and go! I wanted to be able to down shift on my own than have the computer do it for me when i have to mash the pedal.
