Those getting over 20 mph aren't using the turbo much, I would guess. The best mpg I've gotten in 4K miles is 18.2. When I go out for a "fun run," I get closer to 15 mpg. This is TERRIBLE!!
But the PT is really my "dog-hauler," if you'll excuse me. My twin-turbo RX-7 is my fun car. It gets about 19 in mixed driving, 15 on "fun runs," and about 9 on the track. And it's a hell of a lot faster then the PT. It does have 380 hp, though!!!!

jramosGT,
I too use my GT basically as a "dog-hauler". At least five days a week. Not to say when they aren't with me that I'm not having fun. Therefore my 17-18 mpg. Not complaining at all. Love leaving the red light and getting upto the posted speed limit as quick as possible. And the ocassional run in with the rice burner next to me[8D] |

If I'm real easy on the pedal I can get 20MPG for mixed driving. If I don't make a conscious effort not to hit the pedal hard (i.e. drive normally
), I drop down to about 18MPG, but I have much more fun! ![]()

Going out on "fun runs" with the GT Cruiser is truly alot of fun. I like to take the PT out in the country on a lonely road and take some turns fast and really "open it up." The only thing is I feel bad for the car after going out on my "fun runs". It might sound rather odd but I feel as if im somehow abusing the car.
Anyways, gas mileage is steadily improving it seems. I now get about 35 miles with a full tank before the needle moves off the full mark. Before I only got about 20 miles before the needle moved. I will reply later with more accurate readings. Take care! -Adam (18/M/CA) 03 Electic Blue Turbo Autostick |

I have to agree with Mean Green....I'm averaging over 22 mpg with 5600 miles. That's my average I've gotten over 25 on trips more than once . I'm in boost daily ,have boost gage and MBC. My old na cruiser averaged over 24 and had a high of 31.2mpg over 44,000 miles.

First off, the computer in the Turbo runs that engine rich when you boost it. It also does it in the SRT-4. That's the way they keep the cylinder head cool under high boost, so the more you run the turbo, the worse the gas mileage will be. If you just go on a cruise and don't boost much look at the tail pipe, it will be brown, no go on a hot rod run and look at the tail pipe, I'll bet you it's black.
