Default Power loss?

I brought my car to the dealer (don;t say it) for the first time wanted to have then check it out before the St Louis trip. turned 43,000 miles. They check the car over and found nothing that needed done. However when I drove home it felt like I lost some power in first gear off the line. I plan on calling them tomorrow but I wonder if they put it on the computer and didn't take into consideration my S1??? I did tell them all my mods on the car so they knew about it. any ideas what it might be? Gary[:I]

Hate to say it but some times I really tnink that the service department at some dealerships do a number to you. Your car was running fine before but after it wasn't. I just don't know, kinda of weird if you ask me.

Sounds like they flashed your PCM and what they put in was the stock programming. You'll probably have to send it to Flight Systems for a reprogram back to S1. Check to see if you still have a code coming up. If you don't get one, S1 programming is gone. Bummer...

On those extremely rare occasions that I take my car to dealer (once for my '02, not yet for my '05) - I always discuss EXACTLY what will be done.
Sounds as if they may have wiped S1....[:I]

Well, it is a new PCM but it is not hardwired. It is software. If they reflashed it you are back to stage 0.

YOu should get a fault code when you do the key test if you are still S1.

How about this on the PCM..

STAGE I
DO NOT FLASH!
[:I]
Gary, if you kept the original PCM you might get Tommy to help you get it reprogrammed to Stage I.

Unfortunatly, only flight systems is authorized to install S1 programming. That's why if the dealership flashes your S1 PCM they reinstall the original stock software to it writing over the S1 programming. And F.S. will only reflash PCM's to S1 originally bought with the S1 programming installed, otherwise everyone could have just sent in their stock PCM's to them for the S1 programming. I think DC did this because of the non CARB approved status of the S1 PCM and they did not want anyone that installed one not to be able to get the car smogged even though it seems most everyone with S1 is passing emissions testing. If they were not able to get smog w/S1 they could reinstall their stock PCM to get passed. If you only had the one orginal PCM reprogrammed, you'd be out of luck passing untill you had it flashed again back to stock, then would have to pay again for the S1 programming. Major hassle, this way you you've got both PCM's and are covered for smog just in case. Do a search on the forums for the exact fault code you get when you have the S1 programming and see if you get it. If your dealer did flash it, then get them to pay for the reflash by F.S. They F-it up, they should pay for the fix.

I agree, Topless. I think if Gary re-installed the Stage 0 and sent the Stage I back to Tommy Thrift he could then get it reprogrammed by DCX. I think Gary got the StageI through Tommy, he's the parts guy at a dealer in Virginia that got most of our Stage I PCM's for us at a great price.[?]

No, Tommy can not do it. Flight Systems will do it for only about $12, plus shipping and COD charges. Gary, email me and I'll give you the info for Flight Systems. It's alot easier than you think.
