Default Turbo on non-turbo cruiser

Hello, I am new to the site but I was hoping someone could help me with a question. I have an 04 cruiser, non-turbo, and would like to add a turbo to it. Would I be able to take a stock turbo setup from a srt4 or a turbo cruiser and transplant it to my cruiser. I don't really want to spend 3 or 4 grand to buy a kit from somewhere.

No. The n/a engine is not beefed up internally like the GT/SRT4 is. You need to go with the Hahn turbo. 1st stage I think is 6psi boost and you don't need to upgrade internals. Bob Stockum is the PT Hahn guru.

Heed MeanGreen's advice. The Hahn is designed to be put on a N/A engine, the turbo from a turbo engine isn't. You'll save a lot of grief.

thanks, I'll give hahn a call. What exactly is different internally between the turbo vs the non-turbo?

Rods and pistons mainly. The turbo's are much stronger, capable of upto 450-500hp. Plus the turbo 2.4L had racing style oil injectors internally to help lube everything better.

The great thing about the internet is the wealth of information. For an in-depth look at the inside of a PT engine, see http://www.bstockum.com/

Save yourself a lot of grief and trade your 04 in for a 03 or 04 GT...or at least a Turbo Lite.

No matter what you do to improve your VanillaCrusier, it will never measure up to what is possible with a GT. You may end up with 200-225 HP but a GT with S1 will be blowing your doors off. Dump the same kind of mod money into a GT and you'll be pushing 400+ HP while your modded Hahn or Whipple car will only be pushing half that.
