Default traction control off or on?

Loving my 05 GT with autostick....confused about the traction control. the manual seems to suggest that it is best to turn it off? for everyday driving, occasional(ok, often)3/4 pedal for a quick burst....speaking of that....keep telling the wife we need to take this puppy out and floor it on a regular basis...right??!

Noral Driving keep it on. The traction control is only designed for slow speeds so it wont interfere much and it will work for low speed acceleration. I think you need to open that engine up at least once in a while just to make sure all the horses are still in the barn.

It's considered a "safety" item. Mother Chrysler designed it to always default to the ON position.

Turn it off for "sporty" driving when you're paying attention to conditions and later when you or your wife hop in to drive, it's on keeping you from spinning your wheels in an unsafe manor.

Shame on me ... owning a GT since 2003 and never paid attention to the TRACK OFF issue, well not until
a week ago when the band Garbage came to the city and we went to the show, was a rainy day and the parking lot where we left the car was full of grass then MUD... sticky and slimy mud...and there was it... the TRACK OFF flashing on the panel... then i remember what was for the switch below the CD/stereo with the label TRACK OFF but i didn't notice any difference.

Once out of the car, was amazing to check the trails in the mud...very deep (above middle wheel) and that overheat/burning oddor comming from the hood.

I still dont getting the difference when On and when Off ... as i know (from the manual) TRACK OFF is used when the car is rolling over a muddy/slippery surface so the wheel wont spin freely if they aren't moving the car right?

Thanks for your responses(been busy and offline a few days). Not much chance of needing it for slippery roads here in Phoenix, except when the heat makes the blacktop oil come to the surface !
As for opening it up...let's just say I volunteered to make a "quick" run to Blockbusters a while ago. Now for a road trip....
