Default Good Old Leverage

Just installed the Revelations shifter nob on my autostick. I was having a hell of a time getting the old unit off. The release button is pressed onto the shift lever. I checked the achives, but nothing seemed to work. I was almost ready to give up. I took out a small pipe wrench and placed it below the ball with the jaws opened wide enough so they wouldn't touch the shifter stem. I then gave the pipe wrench a couple of hits with a hammer and the unit popped off. I also ordered the chrome door lock buttons, but found them to be of smaller diameter then the originals and rattled in place on the door, so I removed them. Quite happy with the new shifter.

Ahhh, mods. Once they start they never really stop.[?] Got a pic of your new knob?

Don't force it - use a bigger hammer! [:0]
Quite a press-fit, eh?

My 03 GT shifter knob has an allen screw, just below half way in the rear, that holds the ball on the lever. Loosin it up, pop.... the ball comes off.

I agree. The manual knobs "pop" off. The autosticks have an allen screw. No hammers, please.

Even after removing the screw, which releases the ball, the push button needs to be forced from its pressed on fitting with the shifter stem.

That's strange. The ball and button on my '04 simply lifted off after loosening the screw. Maybe Chrysler made some changes???[:I]
