I just purchased my stage 1 kit from Haynes and had it installed at my local dealer. The dealer said they had installed them before but... I had them install a new plastic intake and the Mopar BOV when they installed the rest of the stage 1 kit. When I told them that I needed to do the auto trans quick learn, they told me I would not have to do that because they were going to flash it. When I accelerate it sounds like it is releasing some of the boost during acceleration through the BOV.
It has a lot more power and I like the improvement in performance but I'm not sure they installed it correctly. I would appreciate any help from someone that's had the same installed and what to expect would be appreciated. |

Because you say that you have "a lot more power", I'll guess that the dealer didn't flash anything wrong in the PCM. Because you also say "it sounds like it is releasing some of the boost during acceleration through the BOV" I suggest you check....
#1, The the Mopar BOV plate for leaking. The bolts are hard to get at even for mechanics and the gasket is easily messed up. #2, The plastic intake's O-rings. I've read reports of these being missing. #3, The innercooler to throttlebody pipes and connectors may be leaking. These were removed and replaced to install the intake manifold. All of these are common goofs after an install like yours. Not because you had a bad mechanic but because these leak issues don't show up until you take your car out and get on it. Good luck and let us know how things turn out. Oh and welcome to the Stage one club. [?] |

[8)] Thanks for the replies!
I called the dealer this morning asking about the hissing noise on acceleration. The dealer told me that they noticed the noise when they took it out for the test drive. He said they checked for intake leaks and BOV leaks both visually and with their equipment, none were found. They said that the noise is probablly from the new plastic intake and the BOV, I just wanted to confirm this from someone that had the same package. I can live with the wistle, if it's norm. Last night I took it out, it screams compared to pre stage-1. I will probably need new tires in a month as I can burn the tires in second and third now. Stage one rules! I'm ready to kick some rice burners now. |

Welcome to the land tire smoke and spending more on
the car than you though you would, but it is still way fun!
