Default Best Spark Plug Wires for 03 Turbo?


I'll be changing the spark plug wires soon on my 2003 turbo.

What are the best wires to buy?

Cranes and Magnecor performance ignition cables have been used by many with good results:

I recently went with the Magnecor 8mm blue cables and have been pleased with them. The Mopar Champion Copper Plus spark plugs on my STAGE 1 turbo car are now gapped to .040. [8)]

I think the Crane wires from RaceAndStreet are the best for the money.

I went to Raceandstreet.net, and they are selling item # 255-4121 for $45-.

I then called Crane who said that that part number has been discontinued.

The new wires they sell are part # 255-4040, and they are now longer and have a straight sleeve instead of an "L" shaped sleve; which they said should be easier to install on the Cruiser. They do sell direct to the public, and the price is $44.99.


I then called the Chrysler dealer who said they will NOT install them.

That is a consideration for me because I bought a Chrysler maintenance contract that pays for the installation and includes parts.

That's only because they are jerks that will not touch anything unless it's a factory part. My stealership is like that. They told me the same thing when I brought rear pads on my first PT (2001). I told them that I guess they didn't need my money and did them myself. They lost out since I've never used their service department again unless it was a warranty issue.

The L boots are no big deal. If you can't install spark plug wires on a PT, then you shouldn't even be opening the hood.

I second Don. The Firewires are awesome. Great price and performance.

Don't let that stop you from using a superior product. They don't know HOW to install anything that is not covered exactly in the DC shop manual. They are a bunch of trained apes for the most part.

This is a simple install. You can do it easily.
